Presbyterians have a tradition of stressing the importance of education. There are four adult church school classes at Parkway that not only provide the opportunity to continually learn more about scripture but also the opportunity to learn more about one another. Church school is often the place where new relationships are born. Church school begins at 9:45 each Sunday morning.
If you haven't tried Sunday school recently, here's what's happening at Parkway!
The Seekers Class studies the Bible using literature which covers the Bible every three years and is taught by several teachers. This class meets in the large classroom at the end of the hall on the upper level of the administrative wing of the building.
The Covenant Class has just begun studying "History of Christian Theology" using a DVD series. Each week's lesson is a 30 minute talk by a professor from Eastern University followed by discussion. THis class meets in the parlor on the upper level of the administrative wing of the building.
The Believers Class alternates using DVD series and books to study topical issues, theology, and the Bible. This class has also been using the "History of Christian Theology" DVD series and is currently studying the teachings of John Calvin. In the third week of Lent, the class will begin a Lenten study, "Celebrate the Risen Christ", which follows the lectionary scriptures. After Easter, the class will resume viewing the "History of Christian Theology" DVD series. The Believers Class meets in the classroom behind the sanctuary across from the choir room.
Short Term Class:
Dan Wilkers is leading a class in the Fellowship Hall entitled "How to speak Presbyterian". This study will include history and organization of the Presbyterian Church and what it means to be Presbyterian. |
